01 / Index

Thirty-one works, each catalogued from a flat sheet rather than a reproduction. The archive records the useful facts: printer, format, paper, and the small optical decisions lost in a thumbnail.

02 / Reading

We do not treat these as flattened icons. In the reading room, a poster is an instruction for a wall, a street, a hand carrying wet ink. Its scale is part of its meaning.

Read themargins.

The quietest choice is often the loudest: where the word refuses to sit.

What we measure
Baseline drift, overprint, letterspacing and the pressure of the crop.
What we keep
Printer marks, folds and a paper’s honest yellowing.

03 / Principle

A grid is neither neutral nor a cage. It is a way to make each decision answer to another decision.

Ordergivesnoisea place.

Basel’s best posters make restraint feel physical. A rule is placed with care; a field is left empty; a letter turns into an event. Nothing is accidental, including the air.

04 / Set

Choose an intersection. The word travels to it on two locked legs: baseline first, then column. Clear it to return the sheet to its quietest state.
